Happy Monday - Uyuni, Bolivia to Salta, Argentina

Evening folks!

After we left you last week, we waited around in Uyuni until our train came in at 10.40pm (well actually it was late and we didn't get going until 12.20am) so, exhausted, we slept on the train all the way to Tupiza. We arrived at 6.00am and after a short walk to our hotel, fell into bed for a few more hours before getting up for breakfast. There appeared to be excitement in the breakfast room that morning as a tv crew were wandering around avid various cast members having their make up done, we however did not recognise any of the cast! Rubbish!!

Tupiza is a small town surrounded by beautiful multicoloured mountains and was a nice pit-stop in our journey down to Argentina.

Tupiza's layers of mountains

The reality is that, last week we didn't actually do a lot, so we'll keep this short and sweet. After catching several buses from Tupiza across the Bolivian/Argentinian border and down into Salta, both Rachel and I picked up a nasty sickness! We're not entirely sure what it was, but we're pretty sure it was a suspect cheese and ham toastie we had in a bus station!

So our week has been full of travel and illness. But the past few days we have been feeling much better and have been exploring the cafes, restaurants and architecture of Salta...

Salta is pretty big with lots of large parks, cafés and restaurants- very European really! It's also a lot warmer as we've come down in altitude... All in all, a perfect place to recouperate.

Tomorrow we head to Cafayate, a small town south where we hope to visit some vineyards for a spot of wine tasting! We must be feeling better hey?!

Love to all,
Rachel and Lisa xx
